As many of you know, the sales of our Puppie Love™ branded items raise money that goes to noble ventures across the country. The more publicity we can get these organizations, the more donations they’ll receive, the more fosters they’ll recruit, and volunteers to assist.
Without further delay, we’d like to introduce Remo’s Rescue in Carthage, Mississippi! Carthage is a city in Leake County and about 55 miles northeast of Jackson. Remo’s has been collecting abandoned dogs so quickly they often run out of space to house these lovable kids until they get a home. Nevertheless, they are relentless and try to get every dog that comes in their door a forever home.
Last month they found homes for their rescues in New Jersey and Indiana. Once you really find Carthage on the map, you’ll see what a tribute that is to the power of social media and the hard-working folks at Remo’s Rescue.
But the work never stops, and a rescued dog has specific, immediate needs. Whenever Remo’s Rescue needs to transport a dog to another state, they need donations of carriers and a volunteer that will actually drive the dog. Quite often when their dogs come to then, they’re often malnourished and require veterinarian assistance. Every dollar helps but Remo’s Rescue requires resources.
That’s why we at Puppie Love are donating $4,000 to help maintain Remo’s Rescue operations so the abandoned dogs of Mississippi can get a second chance at a great life, no matter where their hero lives. For more information about Remo’s Rescue, their Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/pg/remosrescue/posts/?ref=page_internal) is their most active communication line. You’ll find their success stories and probably a few friends that could use a good home. Please do what you can to help Remo’s Rescue!
This donation is made by Puppie Love™ in memory of Sadie (pictured above).

Saving the Animals Together is an organization that operates out of Jackson, Tennessee, a town in between things. It’s nearly halfway between Memphis and Nashville as well as dead smack between the Mississippi and Tennessee Rivers.
The mission of S.T.A.T. is to help dogs between two lives: the cruel and neglected past lives that led them to Saving the Animals Together in the first place, and the foster homes that will eventually lead to these dogs’ future forever homes. You can find them at http://www.savingtheanimalstogether.org/. Their finances are 100% transparent and you can see the people behind this amazing operation.
Of course, every rescue facility across the country has its own horror story of dogs that are pushed to the edge by the monstrous behavior of their past owners, but S.T.A.T just recently had three dogs come in with tales so despicable that you’d wish you had five minutes alone with their owners (I think they’re in jail, but that doesn’t make us feel that much better):
-
One dog – nicknamed Bullet - came in after his owner shot him in the face, leaving his vision and hearing impaired. Despite that gruesome abuse, Bullet doesn’t have a mean bone in his body, and miraculously, he will eventually recover.
-
The second dog is Walter. Walter’s previous owner had been unfortunately partaking in some illegal activity, due to this Walter was exposed to the cooking of Methamphetamine's. Walter did lose a lot of hair and contracted melanoma. He is also expected to make a recovery to allow him to live the rest of his life with a wagging tail.
-
The third dog was Sadie (grey and white pictured below), was in a high high kill shelter in such horrible condition. She was skin and bones on the brink of death. She was one of their worst cases. Not only was she starved, but she was high heart worm possible, which for a dog at a normal weight is a hard treatment. She eventually got healthy, and got through treatment. Sadie sadly passed away, more than likely due to the things her body had gone through. She got to grow into such an amazing dog,she got to show us what her whole life should have looked like, playing in the back yard with her girl and getting cuddles and loved one. She was so beyond loved and was such a special girl. She never should her human mom a ounce of pain or discomfort. She was her happy go lucky, beautiful self under her last moment.
Stories like these break our hearts daily, but S.T.A.T. is a top-notch organization in Jackson. They feature dogs for adoption on one of the local news stations; they host adoption events at the local Petco, and they even have a Pibble Palooza every year to bring awareness and understanding about the Staffordshire Bull Terrier breeds. Plus, they are now opening adoptions to homes across the country.
Saving the Animals Together is a 100% foster-based organization, so they have no administration or building costs. Every dollar allows them to further their mission of finding homes for abandoned dogs in Madison County and beyond. Their success rates, combined with dogs like Bullet and Walter that make their way into S.T.A.T.’s lives, convinced us here at Puppie Love™ to donate $4,000 to their operation.

Kittie Kittie™ is making our next donation of $2000 to the Barker Rescue Project in Landrum, S.C. The Rescue Project is a 501c3 organization that focuses on the spay/neuter, adoption, awareness and education to further the health and happiness of the kitties in our lives!
We like the work they do at Barker Rescue Project. They have a strong Facebook page and their Instagram feed is amazing! Who doesn’t love endless pictures of kittens? Nobody, that’s who! It just makes you want to adopt a dozen cats tonight.
(So, a brief word to all of the rescue operations out there: take advantage of social media to its fullest extent. Everybody is on Instagram, plus, it’s free and people will find you. I know you are up to your necks in vet work and placements but take a few minutes and start an Instagram page. And then take pictures of the pets and post them. It’s easy!)
We are donating $2,000 to Barker Rescue Project to help this organization maintain the high levels of adoption success they have had since they opened in 2016. Their Facebook page has a long line of fosters and forever home success stories, plus they host creative events such as the Paint Your Pet (not actually changing the color of the cats) at a wine and paint store in Greenville, about 30 miles south of Landrum.
Barker Rescue Project has also hosted pet adoption events at Greenville pet stores in the past, not to mention a very successful cat and kitten adoption fair in Mauldin in July. It’s this type of effort that gives us confidence that our donation will be put to good use to assist in the rehabilitation and rescue of cats in the Carolinas.
Here is a quick story about Greyson (the one-eyed Kittie featured below). Greyson found his way to one of Barker's foster mom's Becky. She fed this poor fella and soon realized he had a substantial injury to one of his eyes. She checked around and as it normally goes no one claimed this big grey cat with the injured eye. Becky consistently worked with him to gain his trust. She brought him inside and he became a Barker cat! Greyson's eye did end up needing to be removed, but he handled it like a champ!!!
You can find Barker Rescue Project on the various social media accounts, with Facebook being the easiest way to contact them if you’re interested in volunteering or fostering. Or plug in their Web site at http://thebarkerrescueproject.org.
A special shout out to Michelle Weckle for nominating this wonderful organization!
